If you are already technically savvy, or willing to learn design, layout and file management programs, you can certainly work through the process. But there are a multitude of details involved in self-publishing, and many authors are overwhelmed by the process. Will my friends have to order my book from a bookstore?

You can order as many books as you like directly from the printer to sell at readings, book signings and other events. The cost is slightly higher than the wholesale cost of the book, but of course, if you sell the book yourself, you retain all of the profit.
