Having published with a New York publisher before, I am so much more impressed with the attention to detail and copy editing that Luminare Press gave to my project. Their editing is indeed superb, and the staff’s organization, timeliness and troubleshooting capabilities spearheaded my book into existence. I could not have had a better publishing experience. I have already sent one client their way, and I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

Carrie Hagen – author of The Muralist

Patricia Marshall and her staff at Luminare Press offer stellar service. Patricia broke the process down into manageable steps and kept me on track to my book publication date. I look forward to a long-term relationship with Luminare Press.

Stacey Gustafson – author of Are You Kidding Me?

This was my first book and I had a lot of concerns regarding publishing. In hindsight, this was silly. The staff at Luminare Press was easy to work with, responsive to any and all questions, and encouraging. I definitely plan to work with them on my next project.

David O’Brien – author of Fredtime Stories

Luminare produces great results. Patricia approached my book project with enthusiasm, and she provided a constant source of practical guidance throughout. And she has a highly competent team at Luminare.

Vicky Amorose – author of Art-Write, The Writing Guide For Visual Artists

Words from our authors

Luminare Press will provide all the steps for self publishing with professional wisdom and updated computer software programs backed by staff ready to assist. The journey of turning a manuscript into a work of meaning and art is made easy with Luminare Press at the helm, as one progresses through the exciting time of bringing the story to life.

Karen Weaver Hall

I have published many books with a number of other publishers. I would rank Luminare Press, which is my first hybrid publisher, among the best. The publication process for Death in Potter’s Woods has been a pleasure from start to finish, and the product is beautiful. I will publish another book with Luminare. I could not be happier.

Betty Jean Craige

Writing a book is one thing; the presentation of that work is another. The staff has had many additions, and I am again pleased with our results. A hearty thank you, Patricia and crew.

– Virginia Salinsky Landgreen

How it works

Publishing with Luminare Press will save you time and money. We work closely with our authors to create professional books and to make sure you understand the publishing process and avoid costly mistakes.
In the last ten years we perfected a bullet-proof system that allows us to publish books that stand out in the crowd. We know how to pay attention to details that make or break a book—an effective and appealing cover, a font that’s easy to read, a page that’s professionally formatted, the appearance of the front and back matter.
With our Publishing Packages you can choose between a turn-key service, or a more DIY experience with the benefit of professional designers working with you.
We do the hard work so you can focus on writing and selling.

FAQ about the Publishing Packages

What’s the difference between the Essentials package and the other two?

The difference is in the level of assistance we provide with the publishing aspects. With the Essentials package you get professionally designed book files and all the information you need to self-publish your book successfully. You upload and manage the publishing accounts with our guided instructions. With the Boutique and Premium package you’ll have a project manager that tracks every step of the process, sets up the account you need to start distributing and selling your book, reviews and consults you on the distribution strategy, pricing, meta-data optimization, and more. You’ll get access to discounts and a wide array of promotional tools. The Premium package also includes copy editing and proofreading that covers most average-length novels, memoirs, and business books.

Does my book have a complex layout?

Any book that has consistent text flow, uninterrupted by images, charts, worksheets, lists, subheads, quotes, and/or other unusual text is considered a standard layout. This includes most novels and memoirs. Quotes or datelines at the beginning of chapters, scene breaks, use of italics, and section pages are not considered complex formats.
Most business books, workbooks, family memoirs or yearbooks, and all image-heavy books fall under complex formatting. Complex formatting requires us to apply multiple styles to sections of text and/or insert images or graphics among the text.

How long does it take to publish the book?

On average we are able to publish a finished manuscript within four to six months through the Boutique and Premium packages. File delivery for the Essentials package can happen within a month. The exact timing depends on the complexity of the project and if the author is able to provide all assets (complete manuscript, images, footnotes, index, etc.) in the requested format in a timely manner.
We know that publishing is often not a linear process, that’s why a project manager is key to assure all parts keep moving forward for the Boutique and Premium packages. After we evaluate your project and you sign a contract, we’ll be able to give you an estimate on timing based on the complexity of the work and your goals.

How can I pay?

You can easily and securely pay online, using any of the most common credit/debit cards. If for some reason you’re unable to complete the transaction online, you can mail us a check. The design process will begin once we have processed your first payment.

Can I add options after I sign the contract?

Absolutely! With our Boutique and Premium packages you’ll have a level of flexibility that allows you to review your project and add elements as you need. We’ll be always ready to help you choose and understand the different options, with the pros and cons of each. Our goal is to guide any author toward a successful publication.
