Skiing and the Poetry of Snow is the third book I have published with Luminare Press, and I can say unequivocally that they are a joy to work with (and yes, as an author, I know you are not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition). The attention to detail, the extremely helpful edits, the pleasant and accommodating personalities of all of the staff make the process easy and fun. This last book was done remotely, and while it went off without a hitch, I did miss just sitting down and laughing with the folks at Luminare. They are the best.

John Frohnmayer – author of Skiing and the Poetry of Snow

Luminare is as professional as it gets. My book is ready for prime time and a national book tour. The publisher used the finest editors, designers, and proofreaders. The expertise and attention to detail was first rate. I particularly liked the personal encouragement and direction that was given. I am thrilled to have given this life work to Luminare.

Danuta Pfeiffer – author of Chiseled, A Memoir of Identity, Duplicity, and Fine Wine

From my first “cold call” with Patricia to working with Claire and Kim at Luminare Press, it couldn’t have been easier! As a first-time self-publisher, everything and everyone was organized and efficient to make it easy for me. Working with Claire Flint Last as the designer was amazing. She captured the essence of my vision on the cover and worked closely with me on all design changes needed to complete this beautiful book of letters my father sent my mother during WWII. I cannot recommend Luminare Press more highly

Shelly N. BrownDear Selma

Wow. Amazing. Really wonderful work. You are capturing exactly what I wanted. The process is terrific and the product is beautiful and inviting – exactly what I was hoping for.

Anne Ayers Koch – author of Finding Home, A Memoir of Arts and Crafts

How it works

Publishing with Luminare Press will save you time and money. We work closely with our authors to create professional books and to make sure you understand the publishing process and avoid costly mistakes.

In the last ten years we perfected a bullet-proof system that allows us to publish books that stand out in the crowd. We know how to pay attention to details that make or break a book—an effective and appealing cover, a font that’s easy to read, a page that’s professionally formatted, the appearance of the front and back matter.
Our Publishing Boutique is a turn-key service. We do the work so you can focus on writing and selling.

  1. Consultation call – Free 15-minute call
It’s a complimentary call you can book right now. We use this call to talk about your project, evaluate what you may need, and see if Luminare can be a good publishing partner for you. It’s not a sales call and you’ll gain a lot of knowledge.
  2. Editing – Optional service
Editing is not included in our boutique packages, because some of our clients have their own editors. If you’re one of them, we are thrilled! You can work with any editor you prefer, but, we strongly recommend that you have your manuscript edited before you start the publishing process. You can check our rate and details on our editing services here.
  3. Manuscript preparation
Starts as soon as you send us the files of your final copy of your manuscript.
  4. Book preparation
This includes all the book design such as interior formatting, assets review, metadata set-up, back cover text, author bio and photo and more.
  5. Cover design
We create a beautiful, custom design book cover for your print and digital formats.
  6. ISBN, copyright and Library of Congress
We register your book with Bowker’s Books in Print and the Library of Congress. You retain all rights and 100% of royalties, and will be able to order your books directly from printing and distribution accounts. Basic account set up and ordering assistance is included in the packages.
  7. Final review and proof copy
Before your book is published, you’ll receive a physical copy for a final evaluation.
  8. eBook creation
File conversion and eBook preparation. Files will be delivered as ePub format, which allow you to sell on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and your own site.
  9. Marketing – book marketing seminar
A complimentary online seminar to help you understand the foundations of every good book marketing plan. You’ll learn how to build an engaged audience, spread your message, and sell more books.
  10. Distribution
Your book will be available for distribution through major online retailers and bookstores. Print-on-demand means that Amazon, for instance, will always show books in stock. Customers will also be able to order through bookstores, with delivery in a matter of days.

We will evaluate your manuscript to see which package fits best, but poetry usually requires our Complex Layout package.

I’m still in the process of writing. Should I schedule a call?

We suggest you schedule a call when the manuscript is complete and you are ready to start the publishing process. If you are not quite there yet, we suggest starting with downloading our free eBook about self-publishing.
