John A. Drews, MD, JD

Dr. John Drews is a cardiothoracic surgeon based in Ladera Ranch, California. He was Chief Resident in cardiothoracic surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital and earned his MD from Yale School of Medicine. He spent his surgical internship at UCLA Hospital and trained in general surgery at UCLA. He also has a BS in Zoology from Duke University. He served as a surgeon for two years in the United States Air Force. In addition to his medical education, he holds a JD from Western State School of Law, where he was a Moot Court winner.
Dr. Drews is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is an Emeritus member of both the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Western Thoracic Surgery Society. He is the author of numerous medical publications, the most recent titled “Can You Handle the Complications of That Procedure You’re Doing,” published in Doximity Op-Med in 2018.
