If you received an email with the subject [Action Required] Verify your identity on KDP, this article is for you.

Over the weekend, Kindle Direct Publishing sent out emails for account holders to verify their IDs in their accounts. This is something that KDP has been recently implementing for new accounts and is now requiring all existing accounts to verify.

Both KDP and Ingram are implementing this new security measure to further combat Bot and AI accounts in the self-publishing market.

NOTE: If you have already verified your identity, you may not have received the email, and no further actions are required.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVED THE EMAIL

Your books are fine, but until you verify your ID, you will not be able to access your account.

When you log in to your KDP account, you will automatically be taken to the ID verification page. Fill out the information and upload a photo of your picture ID. We have been seeing a higher success rate using your Passport, compared to a Driver’s License.

Image troubleshooting

The photo of your ID must be in focus, fill the frame of the photo, and not have any information cut off.

The link and the image below inform you on how to take a photo and what an acceptable ID photo should look like. It might take several tries to get the photo to upload.
